Authorities said the driver, a 34-year-old Hayward, Calif. man, lost control of his pickup while driving at a high rate of speed on northbound Interstate Highway 238, somehow scaled 12-foot concrete and chain link fence barrier surrounding the trackway, and then plunged to the railbed 50 feet below. Luckily, no trains were coming at the time, and the truck did not land on the electrified third rail.
