Eighteen-year-old Ki-Shui Liao of Alameda, Calif. looks at her new certificate of naturalization at her home, following citizenship ceremonies aboard the U.S.S. Hornet, Monday, July 3, 2006. Some seventy-five new American citizens were sworn in aboard the retired aircraft carrier; Liao, who was born in Hong Kong, came to the U.S. about 13 years ago speaking no English at all.
